Is
Valentine’s Day just not your thing? Then why not celebrate Galentine’s Day on
February 13 instead?! A great day to spend time with the women that are near
and dear to your heart. At TopVintage we love honouring women and their
friendships and that’s what Galentine’s Day is all about. Here are 3 reasons
why you should celebrate this day with your bestie.
What is Galentine’s Day?
In 2010 the term Galentine’s Day was coined
by Leslie Knope, the Parks and Recreation fictional main character. In
one of the episodes she explains what Galentine’s Day is: “What is Galentine’s
Day? Oh, it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady
friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come
and kick it... ladies celebrating ladies." That’s how Galentine’s Day started.
Ladies celebrating ladies!
3 reasons why you should celebrate Galentine’s Day
1.
For all the single ladies
So Galentine’s Day is celebrated on
February 13, the day before February 14 a.k.a. Valentine’s Day. A day that many
singles dread. It's 2023 and it definitely seems a bit old-fashioned to only
have a day celebrating romantic love. As far as I’m concerned celebrating a
close friendship is every bit as important, or maybe even more so, than
celebrating romantic love. So wouldn’t you much rather have a fun date with
your friends instead of worrying about your relationship status or crying your
way through The Notebook?!
2. Galentine’s Day equals wine
This is a time for catching up with your
girlfriends and really get into all the gossip. And of course, that’s even more
fun over some delicious wine and snacks. A great excuse to spend a few hours
drinking wine with your friends.
3. Gift-giving and receiving
Your girlfriends understand you no
matter what you’re going through. Friends are there when you need a shoulder to
cry on and they are there to cheer you on and celebrate your successes.
Galentine’s Day has made its way over here from the US and it’s the perfect
occasion to surprise each other with a sweet card or a gift. After all, your
friends are the ones who know you best and know what you like. And of course, it’s
the same the other way around, so surprise your friend with one of our unique gifts.
Mark Galentine’s Day in your calendar
As we are getting older, it also seems like we’re getting busier. This makes it harder and harder to get all of our friends together at the same time for a good old-fashioned get-together, Be sure to mark February 13 in all of your calendars, so you won’t forget to celebrate your friendship. I personally think that celebrating the friendships with your friends is a great initiative and it would even make a great national holiday.
