Those first rays of sunshine in the spring time make me long for colourful clothes. I can’t wait for the feeling of warm sunshine on my face and spontaneous afternoons at sidewalk cafes. And of course, a new season calls for new retro trends. Time to update your wardrobe with the prettiest spring outfits for those warmer days. Let yourself be inspired!

The perfect spring look - 2021 vs. 2022

As soon as the weather is getting warmer, I get spring (shopping) fever. 2021 seemed to be all about loungewear, but this year I just can’t wait to wear some new, cheerful and bright retro treasures. And looking at the latest fashion trends, spring 2022 is going to deliver all that and more. Bright colours, an array of prints, drapey fabrics and quirky details to name just a few of the pretty things the new season has in store for us. Time to make some room in your wardrobe for those fresh spring items.

Bright and colourful clothes

Pink is by far the trend colour for spring 2022. It’s the colour that shocks, transforms and inspires. Green is another colour that is an absolute must-have in your spring wardrobe. It ‘s a symbol for spring season when everything is in bloom, not just nature but your wardrobe as well. It’s also the colour of sustainability and positivity. The colour green will definitely be present in many different shades. Will you opt for head-to-toe green or just some green accessories? Everything is possible!

Buttery yellow is another colour that you will want to have in your wardrobe. To me yellow is a cheerful and bold colour but it also has a soothing quality. Although buttery yellow seems to be the most in-demand hue, vibrant canary yellow and pastel yellow are also popular. Did you know that the colour yellow was spotted over 120 times during the runway shows of the major fashion brands? This spring yellow is definitely going to be one of the trending colours. All of these gorgeous colours are also represented in our own collection. Be it dresses, blouses, (flared) trousers or accessories. I think that these bright and colourful items are a great addition to your wardrobe and perfect for getting into the swing of spring!

Prints, prints and even more prints

Prints, you either love them or hate them. But a print instantly enhances your look, so your outfit won’t be needing much else. One of the must-have trends this spring is the butterfly print. That noughties butterfly trend seems to have fluttered back into our lives. Besides the butterfly is also a symbol of hope, of new beginnings, which we could all really use after these past few years. Dresses, socks, jewellery: the butterfly (print) will be a much recurring theme these coming months. All perfect items for spring weather!

Check and plaid patterns are also totally hot! And they come in different sizes and styles; think classic tartans, a small Glen plaid, a signature Buffalo check or large checks in black and white. It’s also the kind of pattern that allows you to channel your inner stylist because it’s so very versatile. A check blouse might be you go-to for an everyday outfit but it can also be part of an office-appropriate outfit. While wearing a check pattern coat can often add the perfect finishing touch to any look. Checks and plaids have been around for decades and are still going strong. Definitely a trend that is here to stay and that seems to be reinvented almost every year. Without a doubt on of the most versatile trends for spring. Check patterns are always in fashion!

Love it: maxi dresses

It probably hasn’t escaped your notice that the maxi dress is still hot and happening. Going back to the early 1920s, the maxi dress can be considered the first “fashion statement" by women. In the immediate post war years, women were expected to dress modestly. But the changes brought about by the First World War helped women find a new sense of freedom and independence and many started wearing much shorter skirts and dresses. And who can blame them? After all, the beautiful female body deserves to be seen! However, the trend didn’t stick around since the 30s and 40s marked the Golden Age of Hollywood and short dresses had to make way for full-on glitter and glamour with dresses that exuded elegance and style. The maxi dress was born and its popularity actually peaked during the hippie era of the seventies. This spring maxi dresses are still on trend. They are available in a wide variety of colours and prints, from stripes to animal prints. A perfect item for spring weather and I’m a huge fan. You don’t have to bare your legs just yet but neither do you have to wear thick tights. But if it’s still a little chilly outside, your maxi dress also looks great when paired with boots. And it’s the perfect festival outfit, so you’re instantly ready to move your dancing feet.
