‘’I love exceeding customers’ expectations during their online shopping sessions while at the same time further improving my skills as online marketer. I have that opportunity working at TopVintage. In my job I’m mainly focused on numbers and the technical side of things: often a typical ‘man’s job’ in the marketing world. It’s great that we’ve overcome that barrier here!’’

‘’When collaborating with power women who wear our clothes on social media, our main focus isn’t the number of followers they have, but whether they are a good match with us and above all whether they are being their true authentic selves. Diversity is very important to me. Sales are not the main focus, it’s about building a good relationship with each other. For example, I enjoy listening to their personal stories, but I also like to send someone a gift on their birthday or surprise them with a special e-mail on International Women’s Day. After all, they are part of TopVintage too!’’

‘’We hope to inspire women by showing them pictures on our website of customers who have created gorgeous retro looks by wearing our items! The same is true of our social media channels. We are focused on extending our community. We now have a loyalty programme and a blog for example, but we still have plenty more fun things in store! At the end of the day, our goal is to make women all over the world happy with all the things we do.’’

‘’I come across beautiful and sometimes touching stories on our Facebook page every day. One of our main goals is helping each other to feel good about ourselves! Some ways of achieving this goal include our monthly self-care reminder, sharing life hacks, truly listening to what is being said and also through our postings, which might for example be an appeal to give each other compliments. We always receive a lot of positive feedback in response.’’

‘’It’s not just the online community that is tightknit, but also the women who work here. There is always a good atmosphere in the workplace. There is no rivalry or gossiping: it’s simply okay to be yourself. I love that!’’

‘’We don’t ‘shame’ our followers: everyone is beautiful and that is also reflected in our postings. I also try to regram as many of our customer’s pictures as possible on our Instagram accounts, it’s our chance to put them in the spotlight and give them a confidence boost. That’s something we are working on EVERY day! We also notice that a lot of our female followers give each other compliments and there are hardly any negative comments. It’s nice to see that. We have built a very strong community in that respect!’’

‘’We really discuss all topics that are important to women: health, love, friendship, menstruation or pregnancy. I experienced that up close and personal when I was pregnant. Whatever the issue I was dealing with, people were happy to give some advice and discuss things and everything was really well arranged, like a lactation room and a diaper kit. That feminine touch is also present in our designs: pink, glitter and gold sum it up nicely. Or, as I like to call it, hysterically chic!’’

In which item or outfit do you feel most empowered?

‘’I feel most empowered when I’m wearing heels: for example paired with a dress or with jeans. Wearing high heels makes me feel more confident, feminine and sexy: with that attitude I can rock any meeting!’’

‘’I feel most powerful when the outfit I wear matches my mood. That might be sneakers and jeans one day and a dress paired with high heels the next. Just being able to wear what I want to wear: that’s what matters most!’’

''That’s actually pretty diverse, but if I have to choose, I would have to say some great flared jeans that accentuate my long legs. That’s when I feel truly empowered! Especially if I pair those jeans with a pretty turtleneck or blouse. And of course, no look is complete without my gold jewellery.''

‘’For the past few months I’ve been enjoying wearing a suit, meaning flared trousers and a jacket! To me the most important thing is that clothes are comfortable to wear. A suit used to be a typical male thing, but nowadays everyone can wear a suit and I think that’s great!’’

‘’It’s not one particular item of clothing really. The most important thing is that my outfit matches the mood I’m in when I put it on. It needs to match what I’m going to do and the vibe I’m going for that day. Otherwise I won’t feel empowered!’’

‘’In a lovely King Louie maxi dress. It’s the kind of dress I can easily pair with my edgy Dr. Martens for the ultimate rock and roll look! Because that’s a look that really suits me. And a dress needs pockets. Great for storing my snacks and confetti: my secret weapon.’’

‘’Black is my power colour! I always wear black clothes because I think black is very flattering. And it also means that I don’t have to wonder whether an item matches the rest of my outfit: everything goes! But I do think it’s fun to pair my black outfit with a bold eye-catcher, like a jacket or shoes in a gorgeous colour or print.”
