What does a day at TopVintage look like for you?
“The first thing I do in the mornings is activate the chat function on our website and Facebook page, so that our customers can reach out to us for live chat support. After that I check our social media platforms and read through all the comments and DM’s (and there are quite a lot of those, lol). I also check the social media channels of our own in-house brands: Vintage Diva, Glamour Bunny & Rock-a-Booty. And part of my day is also spent making the winners of our giveaways happy by sending out parcels containing the gifts and retro gems they’ve won. I’m especially proud of the fact that the majority of our customers are so happy with the items that they’ve purchased. Therefore my motto is: if you’re having a bad day, just read the messages that we receive from our customers. Those messages are guaranteed to make you happy and put a smile on your face.”

What are some of your fashion faux pas?
“Back in the day when I was 16 years old (yes, back in the day because I’m 52 now :p), a ‘Knickerbocker’ was my go-to outfit. Those are knee-length trousers that are gathered in at or just below the knees using a tie-fastening at the sides, similar to traditional ‘Lederhosen’. Back then one of my friends made fun of me and tried telling me that I looked ridiculous, but I absolutely loved my ‘Knickerbocker. Looking back I do realise that this was my biggest fashion faux pas ever. And with those long legs of mine it looked even worse, lol.”

Which trend would you like to stick around?
“I always say that I was born just a little too late, because I absolutely adore the seventies and that hippie culture. I would have loved to have been around for that. Flowy floral print blouses, flared trousers and sandals, LOVE IT! I would have been a good hippie. That’s why I think it’s awesome that all of those typical seventies items are making a comeback. If it were up to me those items would never go out of style. Those flower power vibes are just fabulous. I can’t wait for spring so I can start wearing those breezy embroidered blouses with gorgeous wide sleeves again. I definitely like making more of an effort with my outfit when the weather is nice and the sun is shining. For me winter is hibernation season.”

What are some of your favourite items from this season’s collection?
"Of course, I’m all about a fabulous seventies look. And some beautiful flared jeans by Banned Alternative are essential for that kind of outfit. I also like wearing blouses with fun and cheerful floral prints. What can I say? I really do love that hippie look! I also think that the western boots by La Pintura are real standout items. Peace, love and this seventies outfit!”

What is your top fashion tip?
“Keep a lot of your clothes! Many items that were hip at one point, will come back in style eventually. Often when I look in my wardrobe I’m like ‘oh yeah I forgot I still had that’. And I like styling those older items in a completely different way, so it looks and feels as if I’m wearing something new. That’s how I actually end up being surprised by the contents of my own wardrobe now and again. So, it’s time to think outside the box and style your clothes in a different way than you normally would!”
